Obama Re-Elected (news to nobody), What It Means To Me

Right then. DemonHide hasn’t talked in a while, but now, it’s time to talk again. Tom Gresham of Guntalk released a bonus podcast (10/09/2012) with that link above and what it means to him. Well, I’ve gotta agree 100%.

For those who haven’t heard it or don’t want to just yet, basically, I’m talking about our Right to Keep and Bear Arms and the liberty (or soon to be a greater lack thereof) to express that Right. Just let me copy and paste the specific section here in case it’s taken down again, as it was 4 years ago. Below is a quoted excerpt from the website linked at change.gov under the Obama-Biden plan:

Address Gun Violence in Cities: Obama and Biden would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent.”

There are many other sections with the typical BS you’d expect, but this is the major concern for me, and probably for you too. Every other issue is moot before this. Not only are some of these outright lies (the noted amendment does nothing to restrict law enforcement, there is no “gun show loophole”), others are easily abused, highly subjective, and vague in nature. This is just what’s on paper, so to speak. The things he has already done and the things he will do shall exceed these measures in severity in the case that we simply stand by and do nothing.

It’s not the end of the US as we know it just because Obama got re-elected. No, it’s the end for many different reasons, among which the complacency and outright action of the Presidency plays a part. Likewise, we play a part, too. Our role is only as large and meaningful as we make it. So, start writing your representatives as you should always be doing, get out there and support what you believe in, whatever it is. This is a time in which it’s important to express your true, honest feelings. We need to know where we as a people and as individuals stand on various things that face us today. Overall, I think we will find that we are more similar than different, that except for a few fringes, we want the same thing. Where we tend to differ is in how to achieve it.

One thing’s for sure, though. Let’s not be herded from the top down, yeah? Kick some figurative ass and then sort things out as a free people.
